Ulalek is a colorless Eldrazi with cascade for colorless spells, and copies the next colorless instant/sorcery you cast each turn. This makes it a value engine in a tribe where spells tend to be expensive and impactful. Ulalek turns big ramp + big spells into bigger chains of threats, and loves colorless instants/sorceries like: Desecrate Reality, Calamity of the Titans, All Is Dust, and Rise of the Eldrazi
Ulalek Copy Synergies:
Desecrate Reality, Kozilek’s Command, Calamity of the Titans – all become board-swinging spells when copied.
Rise of the Eldrazi cast with Ulalek = cast Rise → copy it → two extra turns, draw 6, can’t be countered.
Mystic Forge and Echoes of Eternity = play off the top and copy things for value.
Cascade Triggers:
Free cast chains via cascade work incredibly well since most of your deck is colorless + expensive.
You'll often hit powerful spells or cheaper ramp/utility (Mind Stone, Mystic Forge, Thought Vessel).
Utility & Value:
Mirage Mirror – turns into anything, including bombs you control or opposing wincons.
Mystic Forge – lets you play off the top of your deck and dig deep.
Inventors' Fair, War Room, Sea Gate Wreckage – help address colorless' usual lack of card draw.
Copy Enablers:
Echoes of Eternity and Roaming Throne double up your spells and ETB effects.
These scale terrifyingly when combined with Ulalek.
Annihilator & Overwhelm:
You aim to cheat mana costs and slam massive annihilator titans (Pathrazer, Ulamog, It That Betrays).
From there, combat pressure or scoop-level board states result.
Mass Destruction:
With All Is Dust, Calamity of the Titans, and Desecrate Reality, you control the board and rebuild faster than opponents.
Copied Spells / Extra Turns:
Casting Rise of the Eldrazi with Ulalek out can just win the game (draw 6, two turns, often uncounterable).
Mirror-based Loops:
With Mirage Mirror and Liberator, Urza’s Battlethopter, you can flash in huge threats or mirror them for combat.
